The short version. Isekai Engine is an AI storytelling game at isekaiengine.ca, run by one person in Saskatchewan, Canada ("we", "us").
- We get only your email address from Google. We keep your account, your saves and a record of what each action cost.
- To write your story, the text of it goes to an AI company. Most of it goes to DeepSeek, whose servers are in China. We never send your email.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics. We don't sell your data.
- You can delete your account and everything in it yourself, at any time.
What we collect
From Google, when you sign in
Your email address, the ID Google gives your account, and whether Google has checked the email is yours. Nothing else: not your name, photo, contacts or anything in your Google account.
Your account
Your email and Google ID, when you joined and last signed in, the invite code you joined with, your plan, whether your account is marked as adult, and whether it is blocked.
What you make and play
Your adventures, characters, worlds, stories, rulesets and pictures, with their earlier versions. That includes everything you type into the game. While you're signed in, these are copied to our cloud storage so you can carry on from another device. We also keep our own copy of each full figure we paint for you, so a portrait can be painted from it.
Quills and usage
For each action you take (a turn, a story reply, a picture, a generated world), we record when it happened, what kind it was, the AI model, the number of AI calls and words (tokens), its size, what it cost us and the quills it cost you. We also keep a running count of your usage per model and per day. If the site's owner changes your account (quills, plan, the adult mark, a block), a line saying so goes in our admin log.
Reports and support messages
When you report something, we keep what you reported (the passage as you saw it, and its scene picture if it has one, or the shared world or ruleset), the reason you chose, your note and your email. For a shared world or ruleset, the report also notes who shared it; they aren't told who reported it. When you write to us from Help and support, we keep your message, the topic, your email, the game's version and your browser's name.
Cookies
We set only the cookies sign-in needs. Each can be read only by isekaiengine.ca and not by any script:
| Cookie | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| __Host-ie_session | Keeps you signed in | 30 days, renewed as you play |
| __Host-ie_oauth | Protects the trip to Google and back while you sign in | 10 minutes |
| __Host-ie_pending | Remembers your Google email while you enter an invite code | 15 minutes |
There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and no tracking scripts.
Your browser
The game keeps your saves, pictures and settings in your browser's own storage so it loads quickly. That copy stays on your device.
What we don't collect
We don't keep your IP address, location or device details ourselves (except a scrambled code made from your address when you type a wrong invite code: see below), and we take no payments, so we hold no payment details. Our host, Cloudflare, sees your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from attacks (see below).
How we use it
- To sign you in, run your account and keep your games saved and in step across devices.
- To send your story to an AI company to write the next part or paint a picture.
- To count quills, apply limits such as the daily caps, and give the free quills only once per email.
- To show adult content only to accounts marked as adult.
- To watch the site's costs and stop abuse, and to act on reports.
- To answer you when you write to us.
We don't use your stories to train AI, and we don't sell, rent or trade your information.
Who else handles it
We use these companies to run the game. Each gets only what its part needs.
| Company | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare (United States) | Hosts the site and stores accounts, saves and pictures | Everything we keep. It also sees your IP address and browser details as it delivers each page. |
| Google (United States) | Sign-in | That you're signing in to Isekai Engine |
| DeepSeek (China) | Writes most narration, replies and helper text | The text needed for that step |
| Venice.ai (United States) | Runs the Gemini and NSFW narrators. Paints NSFW pictures and pictures drawn from an earlier one. It may pass a request on to the model's maker, such as Google for Gemini. | The text needed for that step, or a picture's description and sometimes the earlier picture to work from |
| NinjaChat | Paints standard pictures | A picture's description |
"The text needed for that step" means the game's instructions plus your story so far (or a summary of it), your character, the world and its rules, and what you just typed. We never send your email or account details to an AI company. Each company handles what it receives under its own privacy policy, linked above. DeepSeek says it stores what it receives on servers in the People's Republic of China.
Other players see a world or ruleset only if you share it. They see it under the author name you choose, never your email. They can play it and keep copies, which stay theirs even after you stop sharing it.
The site's owner can see your account, quills and usage on the admin page. The owner can also reach your saves in our storage, but looks at them only to fix a problem you report, to look into abuse, or when the law requires it.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
Where it is kept
We're in Canada, but the companies above store and process data in the United States, China and other countries, under those countries' laws. By using Isekai Engine you agree to your information going there.
How long we keep it
- Your account, saves and pictures: until you delete them or delete your account.
- Our copies of your full figures: your newest 100, until you delete your account.
- Quill and usage records: while your account exists. When it's deleted, these records stay, but your email is replaced with an anonymous code, so our cost records still add up.
- A one-way scrambled code made from your email: kept after deletion so the same email can't claim the free quills twice. It can't be turned back into your email.
- Wrong invite codes: when an invite code is wrong, we count it against scrambled codes made from your Google account and your network address, to stop guessing. They can't be turned back, and go after two days.
- Backups: our database keeps a 30-day history for recovering from mistakes, so deleted records leave it within 30 days.
- Reports: for a year after we close them, or longer where the law requires it (for example, reports to the police). If your account is deleted, reports you sent stay without your email.
- Support messages: for a year after we answer them, or until you delete your account.
- Cookies: as listed above. Signing out removes the sign-in cookie.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: in the game, open the menu (☰), choose Account, then Delete account. Your saves, pictures, shared worlds, quills and sign-in are removed straight away. You can also choose to erase what the game stored in that browser. Or email us and we'll do it.
- See or correct your information: email us. We'll answer within 30 days.
- Withdraw your consent: delete your account. We can't run the game for you without the information above.
- Complain: write to us first and we'll try to put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Adults only
Isekai Engine is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll delete it. If you think that's the case, please tell us.
Keeping it safe
Everything travels encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in cookies are sealed so only our server can read them. The AI companies' keys stay on our server, and only the site's owner can reach our stores. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts you at real risk of significant harm, we'll tell you, and the Privacy Commissioner, as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If the change is significant, we'll also tell you in the game.
